1. Corrosion resistance

Stainless steel material

304 stainless steel is a common choice. It has good corrosion resistance to propane and propylene, and can operate stably for a long time under the working environment of the separator. 304 stainless steel contains elements such as chromium and nickel. Chromium can form a dense chromium oxide protective film on the surface of the material to prevent impurities or trace corrosive substances in the propane-propylene mixture from corroding the separator wall.

For some slightly more corrosive situations, 316 stainless steel is more suitable. In addition to chromium and nickel, 316 stainless steel also contains molybdenum, which further enhances the material's resistance to corrosive substances such as chlorides, ensuring the reliability of the separator in the propane-propylene separation process where impurities may exist.

2. Strength and pressure resistance

Carbon steel material

In some cases where the corrosion resistance is not high but the strength and pressure resistance are high, carbon steel is a material that can be considered. Carbon steel has high strength and can withstand the high pressure in the Propane-Propylene (PP) Splitter. However, carbon steel is easy to rust and needs to be properly treated with corrosion protection, such as painting or using internal lining to prevent propane-propylene from directly contacting carbon steel and corroding.

Composite metal materials

The use of composite metal materials is also an effective strategy. For example, carbon steel is used as the matrix and stainless steel thin plates are lined inside. This not only uses the high strength of carbon steel to meet the pressure resistance requirements, but also uses the corrosion resistance of stainless steel to protect the surface of the separator that contacts propane-propylene.
