Pressure vessels are widely used in many fields such as industrial production, and their safe and stable operation is inseparable from a suitable operating environment.
Temperature environment is crucial. Pressure vessels made of different materials have different tolerance ranges for temperature. Under high temperature environment, the material properties of pressure vessel may change, such as reduced strength and toughness. For example, some steel pressure vessels may creep under too high temperature, causing deformation or even rupture of the vessel. Low temperature environment may make the material brittle, so it is necessary to ensure that the operating temperature is within the specified range according to the vessel design standards, and set up temperature monitoring and control devices when necessary.
The pressure environment must be strictly controlled. The operating pressure should be stable within the design pressure range. Excessive pressure will cause excessive stress on the vessel wall, which will cause danger if it exceeds the material's bearing limit. Frequent pressure fluctuations will also accelerate the fatigue damage of the vessel. Therefore, there must be an accurate pressure monitoring system and reliable pressure regulating equipment, such as safety valves.
The surrounding medium environment should not be ignored. In an environment with corrosive media, pressure vessels are prone to corrosion. For example, in chemical production, in an environment containing corrosive substances such as acids and alkalis, the container needs to have effective anti-corrosion measures, such as the use of corrosion-resistant materials or anti-corrosion coating treatment. At the same time, to avoid external physical impact on the container, sufficient space should be maintained around it to prevent other equipment or objects from colliding with the pressure vessel.
A good operating environment is the guarantee for the safe and efficient operation of the pressure vessel. Negligence in any aspect may cause serious safety accidents.
