Information

Pressure vessels are widely used in many industrial fields. Their internal corrosion problems will seriously affect the safety and service life of the equipment. Therefore, it is crucial to take effective preventive measures.

Reasonable material selection is the key. According to the properties of the medium inside the container, such as pH, oxidizability, temperature and pressure, select materials with good corrosion resistance. For example, for containers working in acidic environments, acid-resistant materials such as stainless steel can be selected; in alkaline environments, nickel-based alloys may be a better choice.

Pressure vessels

Control medium factors. For corrosive media, their concentration, temperature and flow rate should be reduced as much as possible. This can be done by diluting the corrosive medium, using cooling devices to control the temperature, and optimizing the internal structure design of the container to reduce the medium flow rate. For example, avoid the medium from forming turbulence or high-speed scouring in the container to reduce corrosion on the inner wall of the container.

Use anti-corrosion coatings and linings. Apply anti-corrosion coatings such as epoxy coatings and ceramic coatings to the inner wall of the container. These coatings can form an isolation layer between the inner wall of the container and the medium to prevent corrosion. Lining materials such as rubber linings and fiberglass linings can also play a good protective role, especially for large pressure vessels.

Take good cathodic protection measures. For some metal pressure vessels, especially those working in electrolyte solution environments, sacrificial anode method or impressed current cathodic protection method can be used to make the container metal become the cathode and be protected, thereby slowing down the corrosion rate.
