1. Material strength characteristics

The strength characteristics of materials mainly include yield strength, tensile strength, etc. Yield strength is the stress value when the material begins to produce obvious plastic deformation. When the stress on the material reaches the yield strength under the pressure inside the pressure vessel, irreversible deformation will occur. Tensile strength represents the maximum stress that the material can withstand during the stretching process. Materials with high yield strength and tensile strength can withstand greater pressure without deformation or rupture. For example, the yield strength and tensile strength of high-strength alloy steel are much higher than those of ordinary carbon steel, and can better adapt to high-pressure environments.

2. Impact on safety performance

Prevent rupture

During the normal operation of the pressure vessel, internal pressure, temperature and other factors will cause stress on the vessel wall. Sufficient material strength can ensure that the vessel wall will not rupture due to excessive stress within the design pressure range. Once the material strength is insufficient, even a small pressure fluctuation may cause cracks in the vessel wall, which will cause leakage or even catastrophic explosion accidents.

Maintaining structural integrity

The structural integrity of pressure vessels depends on the strength of the materials. If the strength of the materials decreases, the vessel may be deformed, affecting the normal operation of the internal components, such as the failure of the seal at the pipe connection due to the deformation of the vessel. Moreover, the reduction in strength may make the vessel more susceptible to damage when subjected to external impact, vibration, etc., threatening the safe operation of the entire device.

Life guarantee

The strength characteristics of the material affect the life of the vessel in long-term operation. High-strength and stable materials can maintain performance under long-term pressure and temperature cycles, reduce safety hazards caused by material fatigue and aging, and ensure that the pressure vessel can work safely and reliably throughout the design life cycle.
