In the oil industry, pressure vessels face a series of special requirements, which are determined by the complexity and danger of oil extraction, refining and transportation.
First, from the material point of view, pressure vessels in the oil industry need to have good corrosion resistance. Oil and its related products often contain corrosive substances, such as sulfides. Therefore, the container material must be able to resist the erosion of these substances and prevent the container wall from being corroded and thinned, thereby ensuring the structural integrity and safety of the container. For example, some special alloy steels or nickel-based alloys are widely used in the manufacture of pressure vessels in the oil industry because they have excellent corrosion resistance.

The pressure requirements are also special. In the process of oil extraction, high-pressure environments may be involved, such as deep-sea oil extraction, and pressure vessels must withstand extremely high pressures. In the process of refining, some process links also need to react under specific high-pressure conditions. This requires the design and manufacture of pressure vessels to withstand pressures far exceeding ordinary industrial scenarios and remain stable during long-term operation. Its wall thickness, sealing structure, etc. must be precisely designed according to specific pressure requirements.
Pressure vessels in the oil industry also need to meet strict fire and explosion protection requirements. Petroleum products are flammable and explosive. Once a leak occurs and encounters a fire source, the consequences are disastrous. Therefore, the sealing performance of pressure vessels must be excellent to prevent the leakage of oil or its products. At the same time, the explosion-proof structure should be taken into account in the design of the container, such as the use of a suitable pressure relief device, which can release the pressure in time when the internal pressure rises abnormally to avoid the occurrence of explosion accidents.
In addition, the maintenance and inspection of pressure vessels in the oil industry are more stringent. Due to the harsh and dangerous environment in which they are located, they need to be regularly and comprehensively inspected, including non-destructive testing and other means, in order to timely discover potential safety hazards and ensure their safe and reliable operation in the complex production and transportation processes of the oil industry.
