In the petrochemical industry, complex process flows and diverse media place high demands on the pressure bearing capacity and operational stability of equipment. Horizontal pressure vessels, due to their reasonable structural form and strong load-bearing capacity, are widely used in various petrochemical plants, becoming one of the key basic equipment.
In the storage of crude oil and refined products, horizontal pressure vessels are often used as intermediate storage tanks and buffer vessels. Compared with vertical structures, horizontal vessels have advantages in low-height layouts, effectively adapting to the dense pipeline and limited space layout requirements of plant areas. At the same time, their uniform stress distribution helps maintain good structural stability under large capacity conditions, meeting the needs of continuous production.

In gas-liquid separation and material conditioning processes, horizontal pressure vessels play an important role. For example, in separators, surge tanks, and flash drums, the horizontal structure provides sufficient space for gas-liquid stratification and fluid residence, helping to improve separation efficiency and process control accuracy. This type of application requires a high level of internal structure design, and the effective optimization of media flow can be achieved through the reasonable arrangement of baffles and interfaces.
In chemical reaction and material transfer systems, horizontal pressure vessels are often used as buffer and transition equipment before and after reactions. Their large lateral space facilitates uniform feeding and discharge, reducing local pressure fluctuations, which is beneficial for ensuring the stable operation of the process system. Under high-pressure or high-temperature conditions, horizontal pressure vessels can maintain good pressure-bearing performance through reasonable shell thickness and head structure design.
In the utility and auxiliary systems of petrochemical plants, horizontal pressure vessels are also widely used in nitrogen buffering, condensate storage, and other applications. Their reliable structure and strong adaptability can meet the needs of various media and operating conditions. Overall, horizontal pressure vessels demonstrate outstanding application value in the petrochemical field due to their stable structural performance and good process adaptability.
